Position Title: Project Manager-Land Development

Client Company: KFM Engineering & Design

Job Scope: Due to an increase in project load, KFM was seeking a PE civil engineer to join their Land Development team in Dallas to serve as Project Manager which included leading a team, organizing, executing, and coordinating project design, specifications, and construction contract documents for various types of residential and commercial projects. The position required strong leadership and communication skills with team members, clients, and governmental agencies.

Candidate Placement: White Hat Executive Search successfully placed a retiring military officer with a BS degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering who was both a registered Professional Engineer and was soon to achieve his PMP certification.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage projects including residential subdivisions, site design for office, retail, industrial and institutional buildings, as well as municipal roadway, drainage and planning projects
  • Be responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating assigned engineering work on multiple projects
  • Supervise engineering and support personnel
  • Develop and mentor team members
  • Develop proposals, scopes, and fees
  • Develop successful relationships with clients, staff, municipal authorities, vendors, and contractors
  • Lead meetings with clients, consultants, team members and governmental agencies independently
  • Present at hearings, commissions, and council meetings

Skills, Qualifications & Competencies:

  • BS or MS degree in Civil Engineering
  • PE License
  • Eight or more years of relevant land development experience
  • Six or more years of project management experience
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously
